Luke Lawson topped the scoring in Sunday's third leg of the Winter Series Stablefords with 39 pts, securing Division I from Andre Pringle 38 pts and Brendan Greville 37 pts. Danny Huddlestone 30 pts pipped John Lavender on count back in Division II who were both just ahead of Rob Simpson 29 pts. Danny and John are also first and second respectively in the overall standings after three rounds, please see below for the leading scores. We are only half way through the series and some people have only played one or two events so there is plenty of time for things to change in the remaining events. Rob Simpson was the only winner in the Two's Sweep, securing a nice pay out and a place in next year's Two's Final.
Applications are now open for the South Lincs Inter Club Cards, these cards allow you to visit all participating Golf Clubs in South Lincs once for the nominal Green Fee of £5, the cost of the card is £50 and all clubs are only allocated 25 cards. If you would like to apply for one of these cards, please do so via the envelopes in the Pro Shop, if applications are oversubscribed the there will be a draw at the AGM on Friday 8th January. The Closing Date for applications is Sunday 3rd January.
The entry sheet for the Xmas Texas Scramble on Sunday 27th December is now in the Member's Bar, remember this is open to all members with Handicaps competition or not and the teams are drawn on the morning of the event, this is great fun event so please get your name down and remember to be here by 7.30am on the day.
Game Improvement this winter - 4 Lessons for the Price of 3
Why not use this winter to work on your game, identify the different aspects which would improve your scoring/handicap but most of all the enjoyment of the game, we all feel better when we play well but this doesn't just happen it often takes hard work. New clubs can make a difference, a custom fitted Driver, set of Irons, Hybrid, Wedge or Putter can undoubtedly add yardage, feel and forgiveness but in conjunction with lessons big gains are achievable, if you understand what you are trying to do or where your bad shot comes from then you have a chance, Lessons can be really technical with a lot of information or if you prefer not so in depth and more drill and exercise based, every individual is different and subsequently learns in different ways.
Lessons will also be designed for each person's individual characteristics, there are lots of ways to swing the golf club, just look at Tour players for example. We just want to work with each golfer to enhance their enjoyment of what can be a very frustrating game, so why not book some lessons this winter or put them on your Xmas list. We are offering 4 Lessons for £60 from now up until Xmas alongside our normal packages and Xmas vouchers are available.
Winter Wheels Trolley Policy
It is the that time of year again as Winter approaches that there is a possibility of Trolley restrictions, so from Monday 2nd November please contact the Pro Shop in advance to check on the situation and be aware of the Lakes notice board.
If there are Trolley restrictions it will be approved Winter Wheels or in the case of severe weather No Trolleys, please also keep Trolleys behind the White Lines, information is also available via Twitter @TGCInfo and Facebook Thorney Lakes Golf Club.
Waste Area 16th Hole
The waste area on the 16th Hole is now back in play, this sandy area is classed as "Through the Green" and is NOT a bunker so your club may be grounded in this area.
Winter Series Stableford's
We are running a Winter Series of Stableford's starting on Saturday, 31 October, there will be six events please see dates below. Entry will be £20 to cover entry to all events including Two's Sweep, there will be prizes in Two Divisions for all events and overall prizes at the end for the leading scores with the best four out of six to count, don't worry if you can't play in all of them you can enter each one individually also and if you play in a minimum of four this qualifies for the overall prizes. It will be arrange your own games and book a tee time. The idea is to offer some competitive golf over the winter period along side the Winter League, please ask in the Pro Shop for more details.
