Happy New Year, we have now thankfully had the shortest day and we can all look forward to the coming season. Now is the time to plan for 2016, how can you enjoy your golf more in 2016? Why not have a few lessons in the off season just to sharpen up on the weaker aspects of your game, we will also have new technology from Nike, PING and Wilson arriving very shortly. New products can add distance to your game, especially if you haven't been fitted before but I would say the main difference in modern technology is that it is far easier to use, it definitely performs better on off centre hits, which let's be honest helps us all, there is also a massive feel good factor about new equipment which encourages us all to get out there more, which again has got to be a good thing.

NEW RULES OF GOLF BOOKS
There have been some revisions to the Rules of Golf in a new edition launched on the 1st January, therefore you need to dispose of your old copies and collect the new version from the Pro Shop. They are FREE of charge so there is no excuse for not having one in your golf bag.
Winter Wheels Trolley Policy
It is the that time of year again as Winter approaches that there is a possibility of Trolley restrictions, so from Monday 2nd November please contact the Pro Shop in advance to check on the situation and be aware of the Lakes notice board. If there are Trolley restrictions it will be approved Winter Wheels or in the case of severe weather No Trolleys, please also keep Trolleys behind the White Lines, information is also available via Twitter @TGCInfo and Facebook Thorney Lakes Golf Club.
Winter Series Stablefords
The Winter Series Stablefords are now underway, there are prizes in Two Divisions for all events and overall prizes at the end for the leading scores with the best four out of six to count, don't worry if you can't play in all of them you can enter each one individually also and if you play in a minimum of four this qualifies for the overall prizes. It will be arrange your own games and book a tee time. The idea is to offer some competitive golf over the winter period alongside the Winter League, please ask in the Pro Shop for more details.

Bridgestone Golf Balls - Announcement
In a very surprising move Bridgestone Golf have announced that they are pulling out of the UK market, over the last few years the Bridgestone e6 golf ball especially has been one of our top selling golf balls. I suppose in the greater global market the UK is a small region, but I am very surprised at this move by the company. We still have good stocks of the e6, e5 and Extra Soft at the moment, but if you are a fan of this ball and it is your preferred ball I would advise you to stock up while you can.
