It was a busy weekend for competitions and it was great to see so many people about. There was still a certain wind chill in the air but it was generally dry with Monday being a lot warmer. Generally looking at the scoring the course was playing tough with the Competition Standard Scratch going up on both Friday and Sunday, but there was some exceptional scoring from a few players resulting in healthy Handicap Reductions.
Danny Huddlestone 44 pts and Colin Shearman 43 pts were the two stand out scores on Friday. Danny won Division III by eight points from Paul Bishop 36 pts with Colin Burton 33 pts third. Luke Lawson 39 pts was second to Colin in Division II with Chris Wright 37 pts in third, Division I was a tighter affair with Brendan Greville 36 pts just pipping John McCann and Chris Hawkins who tied on 35 pts. The Two's Sweep winners were Lee Watts, Paul Pamphillon, Tom Bingley, Dave Bridges, Colin Shearman, Jon Crouch & Gary Kew.
Angelo Antonucci 86-18=68 produced the performance of the day to win the St George's Medal on Sunday with a slender margin from Colin Lockwood 87-18=69 both in Division III. Darren Hunt 81-10=71 got his handicap into single figures winning Division I from Karl Blackwell 78-5=73 and Ben Templeman 79-6=73 who was making his competitive return after five weeks off with a broken finger. Karl also secured the Overall Best Gross. Graham Howden 85-15=70 topped Division II from Dep Patel 87-15=72 and Clint Allen 90-14=76. Paul Rawlings 97-24=73 was third in Division III behind Angelo and Colin. Tom Bingley was the only one to score a Two on Sunday, especially special as it was on the Par 4 16th, Tom hit a four iron onto the green before holing the putt, great stuff.
The Easter Monday Pairs produced an excellent entry, Bob & Sue Stamper 42 pts lead the way beating Sean Evans & Dave Bridges on count back. Dep Patel & Rob Drewery 41 pts were third from Keith Manning & Pete Corley with Carlton Grogan & Angelo Antonucci fifth after both tied on 40 pts. There were a few more Two's on Monday with Sue Stamper, Sean Evans, Rob Drewery, Luke Lawson x2, Matt Deegan, Gav Heaton, Pete Howard, Ian Bingley & Kev Rayner all securing the magic number.

Grip Bar
We have installed a Grip Bar in the shop now, I am sure this will make a big difference in how you select your grips from now on, grips that are too small for the size of your hand can lead to pulled shots with over active hand action and if the grip is too large it can stifle your hand action leading to pushed or sliced shots, also if your grips are worn you will almost certainly being gripping the club too tightly, especially in the winter when there is not so much moisture in your hand. We can now measure your hand and have a full range of grips with varying amounts of tape underneath for you to try first, if your grips are the wrong size this does not necessarily mean you have to invest in new grips, if they are in good condition we can add layers of tape underneath. We are running a Special Offer at the moment, if you have your irons re-gripped we will do your woods for FREE .
Fitting Wall
