I am glad Dustin Johnson now has a Major to his name, he has had a lot of near misses especially the previous US Open when he three putted the last to lose by one. He is is undoubtedly the epitome of the modern golfer very athletic but with an effortless looking golf swing and an incredibly laid back attitude to the game, it was probably that outlook which allowed him to deal with the very harsh one shot penalty imposed him in the last round and the ridiculous way the USGA informed him and the rest of the field of that potential penalty, what was building to a great climax was completely ruined, affecting most of the players in contention as they were unaware of exactly where they all stood, this also filtered through to the crowd who were also subdued from then on in.
That aside Oakmont looks like a great golf course and was a great test, made slightly easier by the rain on day one. I also understand that the course set up for this event is not very different from the set up that the Members play throughout the whole year, amazing!
Sunday's Texas Scramble was well attended and victory went to Mickey Moore, Malc Mitchell, Nick and Myself with 59-1.4 =57.6, vice Captain Darren Hunt, Matt Deegan, Lee Watts & Wayne Gray 60.2 were second on count back from Luke Lawson, Nick Robinson, Gary Kew & Dave McQuillen with Steve Cooper,Graham Cooper, Andy Phillips & Nidge Bryan 60.7 in fourth, the nearest the pins were 2nd Stuart Pettit, 7th Colin Burton, 11th Rob Drewery, 17th Team Hunt.
Danny Huddlestone produced the score of the day in the Mid Week Stableford with 40 pts taking Division I from Ivan Boyce 37 pts and Nick Robinson 36 pts while Keith McCracken 31 pts secured Division II from Malc Wiles 29 pts and Paul Hydes 28 pts. The Two's Sweep winners were Ivan Boyce x2 and Malc Smith.
Congratulations to Paul Rawlings and Jim Dudley who are the new Senior Club Champions Nett and Gross respectively, Paul shot Nett 74+72 = 146 for a four shot victory over Bob Madge 75+75=150 while Jim's 166 total was good enough for a thirteen shot victory over John McCann.

It's so important for golfers of all abilities - particularly amateurs, who have far more to gain - to get custom fitted, as opposed to leaving it to chance, like you'd be doing if you bought standard spec clubs straight off the shelf.
