Congratulations to Ash Anthony, Club Champion 2016, for the third year in a row the Club Championship was decided in a Play Off, Ash Anthony 77+79 and Paul Day 79+77 tied on 156 with Ash scoring 1 under in the four hole play off to take the trophy. 

It was a very close finish in the end with overnight leader Dave Bridges 75+82 finishing one behind and both Pete Corley and Chris Rippon one further back after both shot 78+80. Dave Bridges did win the Nett Trophy though with 67+74=141 edging out Nigel Bunn 72+70=142 and Roger Clarke 72+70=142. 

John Unwin 80-13=67 won the Fisher Cup for the best nett round on Sunday on count back from Andre Pringle 82-15=67 with Pete Roberts 86-18=68 in third. 

The Two's Sweep winners were Saturday Paul Harford, Nigel Clare, Matt Deegan, Steve Brand, Nick Robinson, Dep Patel, Martin Hodgkin, Lee Woodward, Chris Rippon & Paul Day 

Sunday - Sean Briant, Paul Harford, Declan Morgan, Steve Cooper, Chris Rippon & Paul Day.

There was another big event on last week also! A massive well done to Henrik Stenson, I think this will go down as one of the best showdowns in Open History equal if not better than Watson v Nicklaus in 1977, Stenson shot a record equalling 63 in the last round from the lead after three rounds, Phil Mickelson's through everything at him in the last round scoring a very impressive 65 himself, apparently Mickelson's four round total of 267 would have been good enough to win one hundred and forty of the previous one hundred and forty four Open Championships. Stenson was just too good and not to be denied his first Major Championship, finishing an astonishing fourteen shots clear of JB Holmes in third place. I must also say how well the golf course was set up by the R&A, Royal Troon is a tough golf course especially the back nine, but very fair and there is nothing wrong with low winning scores when the standard of golf is as high as both Stenson and Mickelson produced, take note the USGA you do not have to trick a course up to protect Par.

Throughout the season there is a series of Coaching Sessions for both Rookies (10 and Under) and Juniors (11-18 years), please see the dates below.
 
- All  sessions Free to members and only £3 a session to non Members
- Junior Membership for a year is a very reasonable £25 for Rookies and £64.75 for Juniors (including unlimited Golf on both the Lakes and Academy courses and all the Lessons)   

   

Sunday 3rd July, Wednesday 27th July, Wednesday 3rd August, Sunday 7th August, Wednesday 10th August, Wednesday 17th August, Wednesday 24th August, Wednesday 31st August and Sunday 4th September.

There is also a host of competitions over the season to be played off the new Junior Tees on the Lakes Course.
