Congratulations to Ladies Captain Maureen McKenna and Sue Lenaghan on winning Saturday's Peacock Pairs, the scoring on the day was very competitive with Maureen and Sue's 45 pts just good enough to take the Trophy from a four way tie behind of Gordon Thompson & Graham Wilson, Pete Corley & Chris Rippon, Pat Bloom & Roxy Jones and Paul Day & Bruce Anthony all on 44 pts. The Two's Sweep winners were Gordon Thompson, Ian Booty, Terry Hawkins x2, Ady Bingham, Graham Hustler, Mat Deegan, Darren Hunt, Russ Harris, Giovanni Rizzo, Richard Chapman, Brendan Greville and Bruce Anthony. Nigel Clare won the Bonus Ball again!!
There was some very impressive scoring in Sunday's Texas Scramble, congratulations to Keith Manning, Pete Corley, Paul Day & Steve Nelson who produced a fantastic score of 55.3 to finish ahead of Stefan Brand, Giovanni Rizzo, Pat Reidy & John Sheppard 56.6 who can consider themselves a little unlucky to come up against such a good score, well done to both teams. Brendan Greville, Dave Bridges, Sean Evans & Gordon Lyttle 59.8 finished in third with the nearest the pins going to 2nd Hole Pat Reidy, 7th Hole Graham Coopers Team, 11th Hole Keith Manning, 17th Hole Glen Howden. Congratulations also to Thomas Holman who won the Junior Mid Term Cup on Wednesday.
Pat Reidy 40 pts top scored in last week's Mid-Week Stableford taking Division I from Terry Kavanagh 37 pts and Norm Wainwright 35 pts, Division II saw Brian Tarrant 37 pts come out on top from John Sheppard and Alan Stokes both on 36 pts. The Two's Sweep winners and qualifiers were Pat Reidy, Clint Allen x2, Malc Wiles & Alan Stokes.
I am sure a lot of you will have heard that Nike will no longer be making Golf Clubs, Balls or Bags from the end of this season, this is has been a big shock especially as we have done very well with the Clubs over the last few years and the new range of Golf Balls are excellent. The clubs perform very well and market share in the UK in Europe has been growing but we are a small area in relation to America and the rest of the World. I must stress that good product doesn't become bad product overnight but inevitably it will be perceived differently,
I am sure there will be some price reductions, but custom fit will still be available also at a lower price and all warranties will still stand going forward.
I will certainly still be using all of my equipment, so it actually a great time to get some great performing equipment at a great price.
Nike's core business in every other sport is Shoes and Clothing and this will continue to be the case in Golf with some very exciting and innovative products coming for next year.
Scratch Matchplay Semi Final to be played by 4th September
Ash Anthony/Matt Deegan v Chris Rippon
Brendan Greville v Paul Day
New PING iBLADE Irons
The new PING iBLADE is now available in store for Fitting/Trial, this new iron is the replacement for the S55 iron and I must say it is a fantastic looking golf club, if you are looking for a soft feeling golf club with the set up to shape the ball then this club is certainly worth a look, it will not be the most forgiving iron out there but it is not without forgiveness, it has tungsten weighting in the toe for higher moment of inertia and has a really thin face for greater ball speeds. I would say it is the best looking golf iron PING have ever made!

Gold Medal for
Justin Rose in the Olympic Golf Event, after all the fuss about who was going to compete, who wasn't and the reasons etc.
Justin Rose won the Gold,
Henrik Stenson the Silver and
Matt Kuchar the Bronze, the event produced some excellent golf and an exciting finish, the feedback from the players and the experience seems to have all been positive. I don't think anybody can doubt
Justin Rose's delight at winning, let's hope that the event captures the imagination of spectators and players in the future.
