The Ryder Cup

Ryder Cup week is here and I for one can't to watch all the action unfold, it looks like Rory McIIroy has hit form at the right time also after his stunning and very exciting victory at the Tour Championship also resulting in him winning the FED EX and a few dollars ! The biggest story of the week though is very sadly the passing of Arnold Palmer aged 87, probably the first Golf Superstar of the television era, you only have to see the massive list of tributes from all walks of life to understand his part in growing the game of golf, I am sure he will not be too far away from every bodies thoughts this weekend.

Competition news

The weather was not the nicest for Sunday's Bogey but it did not seem to affect the scoring, Pete Corley finished four up to take Division I from John Unwin 3 up and Gav Heaton 1 Down, Paul Rawlings topped Division II with 3 up from Paul Bishop and Dave McQuillen both on 2 up. Division III went to Bruce Anthony 3 up from Jeremy Knight 2 up and Colin Burton 1 up. The Two's Sweep winners were Gav Heaton and Stuart Stirling.

Wayne
Gray also won the Singles Plate Final beating Ian Weller.

Two's Final - Saturday 22nd October

The Two's Final is not that far away now, all of the qualifiers are listed here, there are still plenty of events left to qualify if you haven't made it yet, there will be both Gross and Net prizes on the day with a total prize fund in the region £800-£1000.

Product spotlight

I am sure a lot of you will have heard that Nike will no longer be making Golf Clubs, Balls or Bags from the end of this season, this is has been a big shock especially as we have done very well with the Clubs over the last few years and the new range of Golf Balls are excellent. The clubs perform very well and market share in the UK in Europe has been growing but we are a small area in relation to America and the rest of the World. I must stress that good product doesn't become bad product overnight but inevitably it will be perceived differently,

I am sure there will be some price reductions, but custom fit will still be available also at a lower price and all warranties will still stand going forward.

I will certainly still be using all of my equipment, so it actually a great time to get some great performing equipment at a great price.

Nike's core business in every other sport is Shoes and Clothing and this will continue to be the case in Golf with some very exciting and innovative products coming for next year.

Shop news

COBRA GOLF - NOW IN STOCK

I am excited to announce that we are now stocking Cobra Golf Clubs, myself and Nick have been testing this range over the last few weeks and we believe Cobra offers a great choice of excellent performing products to suit a very broad cross section of golfers. We strongly believe in making sure that all products are well fitted to your exact requirements so we now have a full range of Demo equipment with more arriving shortly.

NEW Cleveland RTX-3 Wedges

The new Cleveland RTX-3 Wedge Fitting Cart has now arrived in the Pro Shop, so we have a range of Demos available from 48 Degrees thorough to 60 Degrees with various grinds to suit your particular requirements for bounce. This all new wedge has a range of new features to improve on what was already an excellent wedge. Cleveland have shortened the hosel which has enabled more weight to be moved towards the toe of the club making for a more centred CG, which will offer more head stability on off centre hits, tighten dispersion and help distance control, the variety of grinds available allows us to tailor your wedges to your particular swing characteristics depending on whether you have shallow angle of attack or are a bit steeper, the already fantastic Rotex face on the previous model has been improved again offering even more spin through deeper narrower U shape grooves, micro laser milling which roughens the face to the maximum conforming limit. A new set of correctly fitted and gapped wedges can make an amazing difference to your short game, so why not book a fitting or give one a try?
