Modernising Golf's Rules
Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.

March Hare Medal - Saturday, 4 March 2017
The March Hare Medal signifies the start to our golfing season and usually being the first Medal of the year, results in a rise in the Competition Standard Scratch score.
That wasn't the case this year though with some very good scoring, Ben Templeman took Division one with the best gross 74-5=69 from Paul Day 75-5=70 and Nigel Bunn 80-9=71. Division two saw Danny Huddlestone 87-16=71 come out on top from Clint Allen 87-14=73 and Ady Bingham 87-14=73. Nigel Pearce 85-18=67 took the Overall as well as Division three after a count back from Nigel Bryan 86-19=67 with Alex Gifford 95-21=74.
The Two's Sweep winners were John Zajac, Chris Hides, Tom Gillespie, Paul Day, Paul Harford, Alan Buckby, Russ Harris, Brian Florence and Graham Wilson.
C Team Result
I missed the C Team result from last week's email, congratulations to C Team Captain Sean Briant and his team as they kicked off the season with a resounding five and a half to a half victory over Middleton Hall GC, well done chaps keep it going.

NEW PING i200 Irons - Fitting Now Available
We now have the new PING i200 Irons available for Custom Fit, this new iron is made for forgiveness but has very clean looks and offers workability, so is aimed at the golfer that likes the look of a thinner club but doesn't want to sacrifice the room for error of a full game improvement cavity back. They have an active elastomer back for feel and a thinner face to give a soft feel while offering a powerful flight, there is new weighting for the toe again to assist in off centre hits.
