Arguably the biggest talking point of the week though was the TV coverage, personally I think that it was great for a major championship to be available for everyone to watch, but I think it was slightly bizarre that the BBC put most of the coverage on the Red button, it was almost as if they didn't really want to show it. It probably meant that the only people that watched it were the ones that knew that it was on and searched for it, surely part of the point of it being made available free to air was to capture a new audience and introduce new people to the game. The presentation was also pretty haphazard, they didn't have anybody on the course and the commentary team back in the UK didn't seem to know what was going on either, very strange.

I am looking forward to watching the Solheim Cup this weekend, although the US team are strong favourites, we all know that European teams really pull together in matchplay events.

Scramble success

Summer Cup Texas Scramble success for Eddie Gachette, Darren Heriot, Jamie Muffett & Luke Freemanas they scored an excellent score of 54.4 to take the scramble by a very comfortable 2.2 shots which is a big margin in a Texas scramble. Myself, Nick, Ben & Andy Walpole edged second place with 56.6 from Dave Bridges, Con Lindgren, Ady Bingham & Giovanni Luparia who scored 56.7.

The nearest the pins went to Wayne Jupp (2nd hole), Lee Watts (7th hole), Rob Drewery (11th hole) and Colin Lockwood (17th hole).

Congratulations to Tina Alcock & Roxy Jones who have qualified for the PING womens fourball betterball Championship to be held at the Karsten Lakes Golf Club in September. They scored 47 pts in our qualifier back in July which finished within the top 50 scores nationwide to qualify, well done ladies and good luck for the final.
