The season starts now! The first big event of the European Tour, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship gets underway this Thursday with a host of top players competing including Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood, Matt Kuchar, Paul Casey and Martin Kaymer. Tommy Fleetwood also begins his defence of the title he won last year along with the European Tour Order of Merit winner playing with Rory McIiroy and the current World Number one ranked golfer Dustin Johnson who was runner up to Fleetwood in this event last year, this should make for an entertaining watch on TV even if it makes us jealous of the weather!
Europe win The EurAsia Cup Thomas Bjorn’s men came from behind to defeat Team Asia by 14 points to 10 in the weekend’s EurAsia Cup. Heading into Sunday’s singles with a one-point deficit, Bjorn packed the top half of his team with the heavyweights in hope that they’d set the momentum for the day ahead. With eight wins in the opening nine matches, it’s safe to say Bjorn’s tactics worked a treat. Let’s hope the same is true when Team Europe next convene for the Ryder Cup in September.
