Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, in this week’s mail we have some good scoring in our recent completion results, we recap on the U.S Open as Brooks goes back to back, and Cleveland offer you a half price wedge. Enjoy the read!

Competition news

All around good scoring

Well done to Giovanni Rizzo and Andy Locke who shot 78-14.5=63.5 to win Sunday's Famous Grouse Greensomes. Pete Corley and Ash Anthony shot an excellent gross 69 nett 65 for second with Paul Chiverton and Nigel Clare 82-16=66 in third, the scoring in this event was excellent for this format, well played all.

Congratulations to Jim Dudley and Art Cooper who are the Senior Club Champions gross and nett respectively, Jim won by fourteen shots over two rounds while Art had a narrower two shot victory over a four way tie for second place.

The Midweek Stableford saw some very good scoring and a couple of eagle two's on Par 4's, Stefan Brand’s 41pts topped Division 1 from Norm Wainwright on 40pts while Colin Lockwood’s 38pts took Division 2 with Clive Springham on 37pts in second. The Twos Sweep saw Clint Allen eagle the 10th Hole with Ben Templeman doing the same on the 4th, Nat Proctor and Brendan Greville x2 scored more conventional twos.

The two Ladies Stablefords this week also produced some excellent scoring, Gill Wilson pipped Jennie Wood on count back after both tied on 41pts on Tuesday, while Lyn Rawlings went one better scoring 42pts to take Saturday's event from Georgia Sly on 38pts, well played to all.

Brooks goes back to back!

The U.S Open certainly provoked some talking points! Despite that, Brooks Koepka was a very worthy winner defending his U.S Open crown with some great golf. The thing that struck me the most was how calm and confident he was especially in the last round, there were no real signs of nerves, just complete trust in his ability to get the job done. That was a stark contrast to the scenes in the third round, the USGA got the set-up of the course wrong in the conditions, resulting in quite a lot of debate, moaning and a melt down from Phil Mickelson. Apart from Saturday though, they pretty much got it right as they always want around to Par to be the winning score and there were low scores as well as the high ones on all days. Tommy Fleetwood nearly pulled off what would of been a fantastic victory by tying the lowest round in history at the U.S Open shooting 63 on the last day to finish just one shot behind, a truly impressive display of ball striking and putting.
