Is football coming home? By the time you read this, England may have reached the World Cup final! But even if not it will have been fantastic run that has grabbed the nations imagination and backing, no superstars just a young team that look like they are embracing the experience with a manager that talks a lot of sense. In consultation with the Competition Secretary, if England are in the Final then the final twelve in the Club Championship Gross will not be at its traditional time of 1pm, but earlier in the day to allow everybody to watch the Final. The recent good scoring continued in both Sundays Stableford and the Midweek Medal, Ian Weller and Steve Leonard scored 41pts each in winning Division 1 & 2 respectively. Paul Chiverton’s 39pts followed Ian home while Eddie Gachette had 40pts helped by an eagle two on the 6th hole which is definitely a rarity on that hole, finished just behind Steve in Division 2. Dave Catling’s 39pts secured Divsion 3 from Bruce Anthony and Angelo Antonucci. The Twos Sweep winners were Pete Seymour, Andre Pringle, Lee Woodward, Paul Rawlings, Steve Leonard as well as Eddie Gachette with his eagle. Ian Fane 80-13=67 edged out Giovanni Rizzo 80-13=67 to win the Midweek Medal with Pete Lambert 88-19=69 taking Division 2 which was an eventful round involving an eagle two on the Par 4 15th Hole as well as a hole in double figures! The Twos Sweep winners were Phil Bell, Giovanni Rizzo, Rob Drewery x2, Andre Pringle and Pete.
