A dream come true! A big well done to Georgia Hall on winning the Women's British Open held at Royal Lytham and St Annes. I watched most of her last round and under the pressure of it being her home Open, being in the final group and trying to win her first Major, she really did produce a very impressive last round of 67 for a well deserved two shot victory. The final Major of the season, The USPGA, starts this Thursday at Bellervie Country Club. It will be interesting to see the viewing figures on this one as the event is only available in the UK on the Eleven Sports website, apparently you can stream it for FREE on a 7 Day Trial and it is also available on Facebook for rounds one and two. I can't believe it is the last major of the year already and the Ryder Cup is also only a few weeks away, some great golf to look forward to.

New PING i210 and i500 irons PING have released two new models this week, the i210 replaces the i200 iron and has a larger and softer elastomer insert which activates at impact for improved feel on the i200, the long irons are larger and offer improved forgiveness while the shorter irons are slightly smaller for feel and consistency. The i500 iron is a complete new category and is aimed at the golfer that likes the look of a blade behind the ball but still needs distance and forgiveness, they are constructed in a similar way to metal woods and have a hollow construction, both models are well worth a try and we have demos available for both in our custom fitting section.

Buy 2 and get a 3rd half price Yes, you've read that correctly. Buy two Cleveland RTX-3 wedges from us and we'll give you a third at half price. We've spoken a lot about the importance of improving your short game in recent months, and having a wedge system that is suited to your game can make a world of difference.

When tour pros are playing in big events, like the PGA Championship this week, they’ll always have relatively new wedges in their bag to maximise their spin, because worn wedges mean less control.
|
| Why do grooves matter? The grooves are the sole contact point between your ball and the club, imparting backspin to help lift the ball into the air. R&D testing has revealed that after 125 rounds, wedges spin 2,000rpm less than wedges with new grooves and consequently roll 14 feet further on landing - which is huge. What causes wear? All grooves will wear slowly over time due to a number of factors, including gradual wear from play, but golf's equipment manufacturers work hard to limit this. |
| Need to upgrade? Grooves are particularly important on wedges, where pinpoint control is crucial. If yours are looking worn like on the first image above, why not consider the PING Glide 2.0 Stealth wedge (above), which has specialised milled grooves designed to increase spin control on full and partial shots in both dry and wet conditions. It also boasts a half-groove near the leading edge to significantly increase spin on low strikes. |
