The Xmas Scramble

The winners were Brian Harrison, Andy Turner, Gill Wilson & Joe Pasqualino with a fantastic score of 56.9. Stuart Stirling, Mike Walton, Vicky Woodward & Sean Briant were in second place on 58.1 with myself, Steve Leonard, Bob Ford & Malc Wiles third on 59.0. The nearest the pins went to Steve Batchelor on the 2nd hole, Bob Ford 7th hole, Nick Burbridge 11th hole and Brian Harrison 17th hole.

C Team 2019 - Message from Russ

I am pleased to confirm that the Thorney Lakes C Team matches for 2019 are now confirmed for dates between March and October. For members wanting to take part in these home and away matches against other clubs, please make contact with myself via Russ.harris@ntlworld.com or call/text via 0773 6543690.

I will send you match details and can talk through the great fun and good spirit of these friendly games that use your club handicap. Players will of course get to play in both home and away matches across the season. Match information and my contact details to register interest are also on the club bar noticeboard and on the match board in the entrance lobby to the changing rooms.

Rules news

New rules of golf

The changes have now come in to force, there are quite a few major changes designed to modernise the game and also simplify their operation. The R&A have published a new Rule Book called the ‘Players Edition’ which is now available for collection from the Pro Shop free of charge, this book has been designed to be much more user friendly with the introduction of diagrams and better explanations to help everybody implement the rules when required. There are now only 24 rules opposed to the previous 34 which will mean our Local Rules have also changed, new scorecards are now also available.
