The Ryder Cup is nearly upon us...

It really doesn't seem two years since that epic final day at Medinah, that is one of the amazing things about the Ryder Cup, it always seems to produce amazing drama and great golf. I am sure this year's event will not be any different, Europe will go in as favourites but with the standard of the golfers playing it really could go either way, from what I have seen on the TV and press coverage I am sure Gleneagles will be in magnificent condition and the weather is set fine also. I am really looking forward to watching the event unfold, it will be played with lots of passion I am sure, but with Tom Watson & Paul McGinley leading the sides the spirit of the game will be upheld also, come on Europe!

Congratulations to Diane Willis on winning the Lakes Cup held on Saturday which was very kindly sponsored by Vicky Woodward, Dianne scored 39 pts to win on count back after a six way tie from Nigel Bunn, Ben Templeman, Brendan Greville, Gary Kew and Sean Briant. Brendan was the Best Man, Roxy Jones 36 pts Best Lady, Norm Wainwright 36 pts Best Senior and Ben Templeman Best Junior. The Two's Sweep winners and qualifiers were Pete Corley, Pete Howard, Dave Gibson, Kev Rayner, Paul Harford, Steve Ray

Wayne Jupp scored top in the Midweek Stableford, scoring an excellent 43 pts to win Division I from Danny Phillips and Dave Buckle on 38 pts, Division II saw Andre Pringle 38 pts come out on top from Barry Jones 36 pts and Danny Huddlestone 32 pts. The Sweep winners were Luke Lawson, Dave Buckle, Darren Hunt & Clive Springham.

Wayne topped an excellent week by also winning Division I in Sunday's Stableford with 38 pts from Pete Corley 37 pts and Alan Buckby 35 pts. Luke Lawson 35 pts secured Division II from Club Captain Micky Burch 34 pts with Pat Reidy third on count back. Bruce Anthony 38 pts topped Division III from John Lavender 37 pts and Abid Sayeed 36 pts. The Two's Sweep was shared by Con Lindgren, Pete Corley, Sean Evans, Alan Buckby x2, John Unwin, Faz Mohammed.

Summer Knockout Finals

Congratulations to Alan Clack on winning the Singles and to Terry & Chris Hawkins for the Doubles. Terry & Chris won a marathon match with Darren Hunt & Mick Hinch that eventually saw them secure victory after an eight hole play off on the 26th Hole. Darren Hunt had done very well and managed to reach both the finals, but unfortunately didn't have a great weekend though as he also narrowly lost the Singles Final on Saturday to Alan Clack.

Winter League 2014/15 Entry Now Open

As the Summer Knockouts come to an end the cycle starts again with the Winter League, entries are now open at £10 per pair. Please enter in the Pro Shop and the closing date for entries is Midday Saturday the 18th October

We have one hundred and five qualifiers for the Two's Final after Saturday's Captain's Choice, there are still plenty of chances to qualify if you haven't done so yet, please click here to see a list of qualifiers. There will be a prize fund on the day of over £800 with both Gross and Nett prizes with the overall winner being awarded the "Frank Valerio Trophy". Tee Times can be booked in the Pro Shop.
