Competition news

A family affair at the top…

It was a family affair at the top of the leader board in the Crystal Mays, this annual event was a big success once again with forty pairs taking part. Paul Day and his son Tom won the overall scoring 79pts from brothers Wayne and Gary Proctor on 75pts, with Faz Mohammed and Matt Deegan on 74pts in third. Ruth Rickett and Helena Banks were also on 74pts and took the Ladies prize, please see the full results below. A big well done to everybody who organised, helped and played on the day!

Congratulations to Dave Whiting who scored a very impressive 43pts in Saturdays Anniversary Bowl to take victory from Bruce Anthony who also produced an excellent score with 41pts. Pete Corley pipped Ady Bingham and Ash Anthony after they all tied on 36 pts. The Twos Sweep winners were Matt Deegan, Andy Locke, Norm Wainwright & Gav Heaton.

Brooks Koepka is certainly the form man in the Majors, he has now defended the USPGA as well as having won the US Open for the last two years. He pretty much blew the field away with his opening two rounds which although were hugely impressive, it didn't make for great viewing. I am also not sure about the course, Bethpage is no doubt a very difficult golf course, but very long Par 4s and only a couple of Par 5s also don't make for a great watch. The Ryder Cup will be held there in 2024 which I am sure will be a hostile atmosphere as the New York crowds are shall we say, a little rowdy!

Captain's Day - Saturday 15th June

Richie "Scouse" Lloyd is hosting his Captain's Day on Saturday 15th June, the format for the day is a full handicap stableford with free on course drinks and snacks, ploughmans and drink after play with a chipping and putting competition. That evening there will also be a James Bond themed Casino Night when the presentation of prizes will take place including a basket meal. It will be a great day so a please book a tee time and register for the evening event in the Member's Bar.
