Covid 19 Guidelines for Qualifying Competitions The following procedures are to be implemented to allow the playing of qualifying competitions in line with the Covid 19 guidelines from the R&A and CONGU. Payments & Touch Points It is strongly recommended that payments for competitions are made electronically as much as possible. Only the Pro-Shop staff will handle the sign in and score entry on to the computer. Cards to be returned using the scorecard box outside the Pro-Shop. Scorecards Players can enter their own hole scores, without it being necessary for a marker to do it. It is not required that markers provide written certification of a player’s hole scores, although verbal clarification should take place after each hole and at the end of the round (following social distancing rules as normal). Signing of your own card on completion of the round is permitted, but not mandatory and will not require a signature from your playing partner. Bunkers Due to removal of rakes from bunkers, free relief may be taken as follows: When a player's ball lies in a bunker, the player may take relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from a relief area not greater than 6 inches from original spot of the ball and no nearer the hole. Must still be placed within the bunker! No smoothing of bunker surface is permitted before placing the ball. - Model Local Rule E-3 refers. Flagsticks/Holes It is mandatory that flagsticks must remain in the holes – they cannot be removed under any circumstance. If clubs have made the decision to modify the depth of the hole or implement a mechanism to allow players to remove the ball without touching/removing the flagstick, scores will be acceptable for competition score purposes. In such cases, the ball is considered holed if any part of the ball is below the surface of the putting green, even if not lodged against the mechanism or flagstick.
