Ashley Anthony takes top honours in the PGA Pro Am Qualifier. Ashley shot a gross 75 in tricky conditions which saw the competition standard scratch score rise by two shots to 73, his nett score of 69 was the best score of the day on count back from Des Chapman 97-28=69. He will now go forward with myself to the Regional Qualifier at Kings Lynn Golf Club in July. Steve Butler 82-12=70 and Tom Bingley 78-8=70 came second and third to Ashley in a very closely contested Division I. Interestingly both Ashley and Tom used the Nike RZN Platinum Golf Ball for the first time in this competition. Division II saw Steve Ray 85-13=72 finish on top from Gary Kew 88-13=72 and Simon Randall 87-13=74. Des Chapman secured Division III by a commanding seven shots from Ian Booty 96-20=76 and Paul Cooper 100-18=82.
The Two's Sweep winners and qualifiers this week were; Brendan Greville, Alan Buckby, Paul Harford, Paul Cooper, Ian Booty, Carlton Grogan and David Gibson.
We have a busy run of competitions over the next few weeks with a Bogey and Pairs Stableford this weekend, followed by a Stableford on the following Saturday. We also have a Texas Scramble on Mother's Day the 30th, that is if you are not going to watch the mighty Posh play at Wembley in the Johnstone Paints Trophy Final! The following Saturday the 5th April it is the Rob Jackson Memorial Pairs, which offers a chance to win a years membership, please see below in the 'Upcoming Events' section for details of all of these competitions.
Demo Days
We have a couple of demo events coming up next week with Wilson and Bridgestone. These events are open to all so why not come done and try some new clubs or test your ball against the latest range of Bridgestone golf balls.

New Grip Bar
We have installed a Grip Bar in the shop now, I am sure this will make a big difference in how you select your grips from now on, grips that are too small for the size of your hand can lead to pulled shots with over active hand action and if the grip is too large it can stifle your hand action leading to pushed or sliced shots, also if your grips are worn you will almost certainly being gripping the club too tightly, especially in the winter when there is not so much moisture in your hand. We can now measure your hand and have a full range of grips with varying amounts of tape underneath for you to try first, if your grips are the wrong size this does not necessarily mean you have to invest in new grips, if they are in good condition we can add layers of tape underneath. We are running a Special Offer at the moment, if you have your irons re-gripped we will do your woods for FREE .

Rob Jackson Memorial Pairs - Saturday 5th April
The Rob Jackson Memorial Pairs is to be held on Saturday 5th April, this annual event in memory of our very popular ex Captain and good friend Rob Jackson, who was sadly taken from us much too early in his life gives both a Member and a Guest a chance to win a years membership to Thorney Lakes. The format is Pairs Stableford and the cost of entry is £20 per pair, if you would like to play, please book in the Pro Shop.
