Congratulations to Jordan Spieth on winning his first Major. I think it is fair to say it won't be the last one if this performance has been anything to go by, Spieth has showed excellent form since the end of last season, but this wire to wire win will catapult him into a different league. To lead from start to finish in a field that has the best golfers in the world in is impressive in its own right, but to do it at such a young age tends to suggest that we have a lot of great golf to look forward from Spieth. He could well be the golfer that the US has been looking for since the emergence of Tiger Woods, it will be interesting to see how he handles all of the extra attention and no doubt level of expectation people will now put upon him. He was certainly chased home by some top golfers in Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy, the Europeans in general had good week though and it was good to see Ian Poulter and Paul Casey performing well again. I must also mention Tiger Woods, considering he had only played one 72 hole tournament in the previous year and his well documented troubles with his short game and form in the few tournaments he has played this season, I would not have given him much chance of making the cut but to be out on Sunday in the later groups was an amazing performance, let's all hope we can see a bit more of him. I think the game still needs him and how good would it be to see him battling with Spieth and McIlroy on a regular basis.
Conditions were somewhat tough again in Sunday's Stableford with very high winds, especially later in the day, which once again resulted in the Competition being reductions only for Handicap purposes. I can't remember this happening so many times in the past, so don't worry if you are finding scoring tough, so is everybody else.
Micky Burch was the top scorer on the day scoring 37 pts in winning Division II. Brendan Greville 35 pts lead Division I from Pete Seymour 31 pts and Sean Buckle 30 pts. Pat Reidy 32 pts was runner up to Micky in Division II, Andy Hunt 31 pts finishing third. Stefan Brand 35 pts secured Division III from Mark Weston who just pipped Sean Briant on count back after both tied on 30 pts. The Two's sweep not surprisingly produced a good pay out with only Steve Ray, John Wright and Andy Hunt shooting the magic number.
It is the Yellow Peril this Sunday which is book your own tee times via the Pro Shop.
The Scratch teams both get their campaigns of and running this weekend, the A team have a tough away fixture at Belton Woods and the B team an equally tough game at home to Tydd St Giles. Good luck to both teams, let's have a good season.

Wedges come in Low, Standard and High Bounce, the right bounce for you're particular swing type is crucial, too high can cause thinned shots and too low fat shots. Along with needing the right loft to fit yardage gaps, the correct bounce plus the options of two different finishes and either blade or cavity back, being fitted for a wedge is very important. This year we have invested in a Cleveland Wedge fitting cart to enable us to tailor your wedges to youe own individual needs.

NEW PING Cadence TR Putters -Now in Stock
The new Cadence TR putter range utilizes different weight face inserts to fit golfers for their stroke tempo and feel preference. Traditional weight inserts (blue in colour) typically fit mid-to-faster tempos and can improve lag putting and the Heavy Inserts (black) match slower strokes and can make for better short putting, both inserts have the next generation True-Roll technology which helps with off centre hits to give a consistent ball speed.
Nike Vapor Range - now in stock
This range of clubs will continue on from the success of Covert over the last couple of years, Covert especially with the Driver has seen excellent growth since it was released, but having been lucky enough to test the whole new Vapor range at Nike's Performance Centre at Archerfield GC at the release event last September, this range will move the bar even higher.
There are three different Drivers; Vapor Speed, Vapor Flex and Vapor Pro - which was the Driver Rory McIIroy put straight into play to great effect at the Ryder Cup. All of these Drivers continue with the Covert Cavity Back design but with the addition of FlyBeam and a Compression Channel to enhance the NexCOR face, this gives an even more stable and forgiving club but generates even more ball speed, they all have FlexLoft so can be fine tuned to your exact launch conditions.
There are also two different ranges of Fairways and Hybrids, Vapor Flex which has adjustable loft and Vapor Speed which is fixed. There is also three new irons; 1. Vapor Pro which has major design input from Tiger, this is modern muscle design and the blade replacement. I must say though that it is the most user friendly blade I have ever used, so much so that I will be playing this club while in the past I have always played the Pro Combo. 2. Vapor Pro Combo is a combination of Precision and Power offering a great looking precision club with some forgiveness and then there is 3. the Vapor Speed iron which is all about Power and Distance, this is really a phenomenal golf club, it is very easy to use and just flies.
With all golf clubs it essential to be fitted for your launch conditions and individual swing characteristics, this range is no different so I would definitely recommend that you book a fitting. I am very confident that I can find you extra distance and consistency within this range of clubs.

Nike Lunar Control III - now in stock!
Rory McIIroy had a major input to the design of this new shoe for 2015, by moving the spikes more to the outer edges and the addition of an extra spike these shoes are exceptionally stable to the ground, the shoe also has a wider base and is lower to the ground than the existing shoe creating a further feeling of stability, with the addition of a new carbon fiber mid foot shank, the shoe is very laterally strong, this lateral support is added to with the improved Flywire technology that wraps around your foot, the sole still has full length Lunarlon cushioning for responsive cushioning. It is amazing how much research and development goes into golf shoes as well as equipment.
