Good morning, golfers!

Luke Lawson and Pete Howard had a good week! Both doubled up on competition wins last week, Luke won the Mid-Week Medal with 80-13=67 then followed it up at the weekend by shooting 5 up in Sunday's Bogey securing Division One, his handicap has tumbled by three shots and he is now down to ten, well played Luke.

Pete Howard continued his good run of form also with victory in Division Two of both Saturday's Stableford and the Bogey on Sunday. Paul Pamphillon's 36 points topped Division One on Saturday followed by Paul Day with 35 points and Mickey Moore on 34. Pete's 36 points won Division Two by three from Glen Howden and Ady Bingham. Gordon Thompson scored 37 points and was the top scorer on the day winning Division Three from Joe Pasqualino (36) and Sean Briant (35).

Two's were in relatively short supply on Saturday with only Gav Heaton, Tom Bingley, Wayne Jupp, Paul Day, Luke Lawson & Russ Harris sharing the sweep. Luke's excellent 5 up score won Division One in Sunday's Bogey, Lee Jones - 2 up and Lee Woodward - level followed him home. Pete Howard - 1 up just pipped Dep Patel and Steve Ray who both finished level. Paul Rawlings 2 up secured Division Three from Paul Hydes 1 up and Sean Briant on level.

There were a few more Two's on Sunday Pete Seymour, Chris Rippon, Gav Heaton, Sean Buckle, Paul Pamphillon, Rob Drewery, Pete Howard, Dep Patel & Russ Harris sharing the sweep. Ian Fane 80-13=67 just lost out to Luke in Wednesday's Medal on count back, Brendan Greville scored an excellent gross 72 nett 68 for third place, Ernie Miller 87-19=68 topped Division Two from Ed Skinner 94-24=70 and Dave McQuillen 92-21=71. The Two's sweep winners were Brendan Greville x2, Mark Johnson and Pat Reidy.

The Brain Tumour Charity - Holly Locke Memorial Fund

One of our members, Ian Locke, is doing a sponsored bike ride from Lands End to Marshall Meadow, which is a grand total of 630 miles between 6th and 12th September to raise money for the The Brain Tumour Charity - Holly Locke Memorial Fund. Ian tragically lost his daughter Holly on the 23rd November 2014 aged just 22, Holly was diagnosed with a tumour in February 14 which she successfully fought off only for a second one to be found around the stem of her brain. Nike Lunar Control III

Rory McIIroy had a major input into the design of this new shoe for 2015, by moving the spikes more to the outer edges and the addition of an extra spike these shoes are exceptionally stable to the ground. The shoe also has a wider base and is lower to the ground than the existing shoe creating a further feeling of stability, with the addition of a new carbon fiber mid foot shank, the shoe is very laterally strong.
