Good afternoon,
Well that US Open was one to talk about! Firstly it was another fantastic performance by Jordan Spieth, the grand slam is on but this victory was very different to his victory at Augusta. The course didn't lend itself to the avalanche of birdies and eagles, or should I say the way the USGA set the course up didn't. US Open courses are traditionally set up for a score of around par to win, but in my opinion this wasn't the best spectacle for the viewers whether in person or on TV. If you see pictures of the course in normal conditions it looks quite green, the USGA it appears had turned the watering system off though, this made a tough golf course even tougher and it seemed to have a big detrimental effect on the putting greens, they looked awful and putted even worse. I think they just tricked it up too much especially with altering the par's on the first and eighteenth holes from day to day. Don't get me wrong I don't think there is anything wrong with making it tough and providing a different challenge to test the players, but it should be fair. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the course set up, it certainly produced an exciting finish with lots of drama right to the end, Oosthuizen's twenty nine on the back nine was just amazing, Spieth is definitely the man of the moment though and it should make for great entertainment watching him and Rory battle it out over the coming years.
It was also a busy week at Thorney Lakes, Faz Mohammed 89-23=66 beat a big field on Saturday winning the Tiger ERA Trophy by one shot from Russ Harris 85-18=67, Mark Weston 86-18=68 was third after count back with Dave Bridges 76-8=68 and Mickey Moore 77-9=68. This was also our Srixon sponsored medal, so I hope everybody enjoyed the bonus of a free sleeve of Golf Balls. The Two's Sweep winners were Ben Templeman x2, Andy Turner, Paul Day, Ian Weller, Gordon Thompson, Pete Seymour, Malc Wiles and Jim Dudley.
Sunday's Texas Scramble was well supported as always, Dave Buckle, Sean Buckle, Tom Bingley & Colin Crouch 57.7 lead the way from Stuart Stirling, Jim Dudley, Les Burton & Stefan Brand 59.2, Pete Corley, Keith Manning, Steve Nelson & Andy Everett 59.4. The nearest the pin on the second hole went to Dave Mackereth 2.74m. Seventh hole; Lee Woodward 3.43m. The 11th hole winner was Bob Stamper 4.5m and the 17th hole was taken by Paul Pamphillon 1.96m.
Gary Kew produced the stand out performance in Wednesday's Mid-Week Stableford scoring an excellent 42 pts to win Division I from Paul Pamphillon 38 pts and Danny Phillips 37 pts. Division II was a much tighter affair with Pete Lambert 35 pts coming out on top after count back with John Lavender 35 pts, Dave McQuillen 34 pts was third. The Two's sweep winners were Luke Lawson, John Zajac & Ian Fane.
Tina Alcock 98-28=70 won the Ladies Medal on Tuesday by one shot from Ruth Rickett 87-16=71, Georgia Sly 98-23=75 was third.

Nike TW 15 Golf Shoes
This is a very technical shoe designed with input from Tiger, it has the Flyweave technology that originated from Nike's ground breaking Magista football boots and offers the ultimate strength and support in a very lightweight single layer. They also have the Flywire system which gives a Dynamic fit, effectively wrapping the foot, as well as the Nike Free outsole which delivers Freedom of movement while maximising swing power. They also come with a Two Year Waterproof Warranty.
Nike Lunar Control III
Rory McIIroy had a major input into the design of this new shoe for 2015, by moving the spikes more to the outer edges and the addition of an extra spike these shoes are exceptionally stable to the ground. The shoe also has a wider base and is lower to the ground than the existing shoe creating a further feeling of stability, with the addition of a new carbon fiber mid foot shank, the shoe is very laterally strong. This lateral support is added to with the improved Flywire technology that wraps around your foot, the sole still has full length Lunarlon cushioning for responsive cushioning. It is amazing how much research and development goes into golf shoes as well as equipment.
