Paul Rawlings was the top scorer in Saturday's Stableford with 39 pts, no doubt benefiting from the extra yardage and accuracy from his new Custom Fitted PING G25 Driver. Pete Corley 36 pts pipped Brendan Greville on count back to win Division I with Robert Drewery 35 pts in third, John Unwin 38 pts was top man in Division II from Danny Phillips 36 pts who was also giving his newly fitted PING i25 irons a competitive debut, Jon Hawkins 35 pts was third. Graham Wilson and Paul Bishop 34 pts followed Paul home in Division III. Two's were again tough to come by, with only Brian Harrison, Nigel Bunn,John Unwin and Russ Harris securing the magic number.
An impressive eighteen teams considering it was Mother's Day and the mighty Posh were playing at Wembley took part in Sunday's Texas Scramble. Darren Hunt, Matt Deegan, Scott Thompson and Kieron Tharme scored an excellent 56.4 but very closely followed home by Keith Manning, Pete Corley, Paul Bishop and Brian Florence on 56.7, Dave Catling, Andy Hunt, Terry Kavanagh and Neil Saunders 58.2 were third with Ian Munday, John Unwin, Keith McCracken and John Carpenter 58 fourth. The Nearest the Pin winners were 2nd Hole Neil Saunders 1.52m, 7th Hole John Zajac 1.93m, 11th Hole Paul Pamphillon 2.02m and 17th Hole Keith Manning 1.16m.
April Fools R&A Ruling
The Men's Captain, Micky Burch, put up some posters up over the weekend about a new R&A ruling restricting putter size, highlights being 18" long, wooden shaft and head, signed by I FULLDEW from the Golf Organising Task Committee Head Assessor. I won't name and shame but it definitely caught out quite a few people, very funny well done Micky.
Scratch Team Get Together - Saturday 12th April
We are holding a get together for anybody interested in representing the club in the South Lincs Scratch League for the coming season. This is being held on Saturday 12th April 11am arrival for 12pm start, there is also a sheet in the Member's Bar to register your interest.

The C Team fixture away to Old Nene on Saturday 12th April has been rearranged and is now Saturday 21st June.

New Grip Bar
We have installed a Grip Bar in the shop now, I am sure this will make a big difference in how you select your grips from now on, grips that are too small for the size of your hand can lead to pulled shots with over active hand action and if the grip is too large it can stifle your hand action leading to pushed or sliced shots, also if your grips are worn you will almost certainly being gripping the club too tightly, especially in the winter when there is not so much moisture in your hand. We can now measure your hand and have a full range of grips with varying amounts of tape underneath for you to try first, if your grips are the wrong size this does not necessarily mean you have to invest in new grips, if they are in good condition we can add layers of tape underneath. We are running a Special Offer at the moment, if you have your irons re-gripped we will do your woods for FREE .

Rob Jackson Memorial Pairs - Saturday 5th April
The Rob Jackson Memorial Pairs is to be held on Saturday 5th April, this annual event in memory of our very popular ex Captain and good friend Rob Jackson, who was sadly taken from us much too early in his life gives both a Member and a Guest a chance to win a years membership to Thorney Lakes. The format is Pairs Stableford and the cost of entry is £20 per pair. If you would like to play please book in via the Pro Shop.
