James Sly Gross Salver & Derek Sly Net Salver - Saturday, 10 October
Congratulations to Ian Weller and Ash Anthony on winning the Sly Salvers, Ian shot an excellent 76-10=66 to win the Nett Derek Sly while Ash successfully defended the James Sly Gross Salver on count back with Ben Templeman and Brendan Greville after they all shot 75. Barney Shales (86-18=68) continued his excellent run of form with second place behind Ian with Declan Morgan (86-17=69) in third.
The Two' Sweep winners were Pete Howard, Dave Mann, Ian Weller, Danny Phillips & Nigel Bunn.
Sunday Stableford
Ben Templeman top scored in Sunday's Stableford with 40 pts winning Division I from Paul Day 38 pts and Dave Bridges 34 pts. That man again Barney Shales 36 pts topped Division II on count back from Clint Allen with Pete Howard in third. Sean Briant 37 pts secured Division III from Ian Booty and Steve Ayre both on 35 pts.
The Two's winners and final qualifiers for this weekends final were Mickey Moore, Dave Bridges, Ian Fane, Carlton Grogan x2, Keith McCracken & Sean Briant x2. Just a quick reminder that after this week Two's Final it is the Scratch Team celebration night, please see below for details.
British Masters
I know a lot of members went to the British Masters last week, the feedback was that it was one of the best tournaments that they had been to, it certainly came across on the TV as very engaging to all levels of golfers and it must be said that Sky did a great job on that front, the masterclasses were excellent and the eagle eyed among you may have noticed that one of our juniors Charlie Pearce asked one of the questions during the Short Game class. Ian Poulter who hosted the event also did a great job and I think we saw a different side to him, the whole event was about growing the game and I am sure it will have engaged young and old alike.
I think we also witnessed the emergence of a potential new star in Matthew Fitzpatrick, Matthew had an excellent Amateur career culminating in winning the 2013 US Amateur Championship which took him to number one in the World Amateur Rankings at the time, he has only been a professional for just over a year, so this is a big win so early in his career at the tender age of 21 taking him to 59 in the World Professional rankings in the process.
Winter Series Stableford's
We are running a Winter Series of Stableford's starting on Saturday, 31 October, there will be six events please see dates below. Entry will be £20 to cover entry to all events including Two's Sweep, there will be prizes in Two Divisions for all events and overall prizes at the end for the leading scores with the best four out of six to count, don't worry if you can't play in all of them you can enter each one individually also and if you play in a minimum of four this qualifies for the overall prizes. It will be arrange your own games and book a tee time. The idea is to offer some competitive golf over the winter period along side the Winter League, please ask in the Pro Shop for more details.

"Scratch Team Bash" & Race Night to celebrate the success of both Scratch Teams this season we are holding "Scratch Team Bash" on Saturday, 17 October, there will be a FREE Buffet starting from 5.30pm and it is open to all members and their families, so why not come along ?

The waste area on the 16th hole is now back in play, this sandy area is classed as "Through the Green" and is NOT a bunker so your club may be grounded in this area.
