The Captain, Micky Burch and his playing partner Gary Harrison produced a stunning 45 pts in Saturday's Rob Jackson Memorial Competition, both winning a Years Membership of the Lakes Course. This very popular event in memory of our good friend and ex Captain Rob Jackson, who very sadly was taken from us far too early in his life, was once again very well supported. John Zajac & Tim Bains 41 pts were second with a four way tie for 3rd on 40 pts split on count back in the following order; Simon Randall & Gary Coaten, John Unwin & Mick Graham, Danny Phillips & Jason Willis, Alan Clack & Anthony Barnes.
Andy Brown produced an excellent 85-17=68 in very difficult conditions, winning the overall prize in Sunday's Medal. Scoring was very difficult with the Competition Standard Scratch Score rising to 73 in very windy conditions. Paul Pamphillon 81-8=73 secured both the Division I and Best Gross prizes from Mick Hinch 83-9=74 and Robert Drewery 86-12=74. Pete Howard 89-14=75 followed Andy home in Division II with Reg Boot 93-17=76 in third. Ivan Boyce 91-19=72 pipped both Declan Morgan 90-18=72 and Pete Roberts 92-20=72 on count back in Division III. Despite the tricky conditions there were plenty of Two's Michael Hinch x2, Paul Harford, Gav Heaton, Steve Nelson, Dave Bridges, Russ Harris, Stuart Stirling & Danny Huddlestone all securing a share in the sweep and qualification for the Two's Final.
It's official, the season starts this Thursday, although we have had plenty of competitions already. I always think the Masters on the TV is when the season really gets going. It is such a great event and always produces some drama, with plenty of Birdies and Eagles but with the odd catastrophe only round just round the corner on a very picturesque but demanding golf course. There will be no Tiger Woods this year but the rest of the field is top class and it is very difficult to pick a winner as the standard these days is very high, almost anybody is capable of winning on their day. I am guessing Rory Mcllroy will start as favourite especially after his last round of 65 in the Shell Houston Open on Sunday. I hope all the Europeans do well, but really I am just looking forward to sitting back and watch it all unfold.

Grip Bar
We have installed a Grip Bar in the shop now, I am sure this will make a big difference in how you select your grips from now on, grips that are too small for the size of your hand can lead to pulled shots with over active hand action and if the grip is too large it can stifle your hand action leading to pushed or sliced shots, also if your grips are worn you will almost certainly being gripping the club too tightly, especially in the winter when there is not so much moisture in your hand. We can now measure your hand and have a full range of grips with varying amounts of tape underneath for you to try first, if your grips are the wrong size this does not necessarily mean you have to invest in new grips, if they are in good condition we can add layers of tape underneath. We are running a Special Offer at the moment, if you have your irons re-gripped we will do your woods for FREE .
